Join us for First Friday on March 6th from 6–9 PM as we feature Richmond artist Todd Hale for an evening of art, conversation, and community.

Todd Hale is a mixed-media artist and photographer who has been active since the mid-1990s. Splitting his time between Richmond, Virginia and Nags Head, North Carolina, his work draws inspiration from both the energy of the city and the natural landscapes of the Outer Banks. This dual influence often appears in the layered textures, organic forms, and bold compositions that define his style.

Working across painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, photography, and mixed-media panels, Hale blends materials and techniques to create dynamic pieces that explore pattern, symbolism, movement, and depth. His work invites viewers to slow down and experience the story within each layer.

Todd operates Antennae, a working studio and gallery space in Richmond’s Historic Arts District, where he has long contributed to the city’s creative culture through exhibitions and collaborations.

For this special First Friday exhibition at Black Iris, guests will enjoy a curated selection of Todd Hale’s work, the opportunity to meet the artist, and an elevated social atmosphere with full bar service and music throughout the evening.
